Actually it is a simply matter of priority. POV-Ray version 3.5 went through
extensive alpha, pre-beta and public beta testing periods lasting nearly a
year and has been released to the general public for almost 3 months now. In
all that time not a single person has expressed dissatisfaction with the
behavior you described. The Windows developer of POV-Ray is also the POV-Team
Coordinator. He has spent countless hours on the design and operation of the
Windows version of POV-Ray and intellegent design and usability are always
a primary concern of his. But he must also balance the needs of the many
against the needs of the vocal few. Were there a majority of POV-Raya Windows
users complaining about the blinking task bar button I am sure Chris would
prioritize and take action to correct it. Since only one person has registered
dissatisfaction with that behavior the chance of elevating that to a high
priority program change is virtually zero. There are simply too many other
action items that take precedence at this time. Knowing all of this before I
replied, I thought it best to simply offer a viable alternative, rather than
having to go through a detailed explanation of why you are not likely to see a
change anytime soon, if ever. I apologize if my reply came off unsympathetic to
your cause but I only have so much time to spend in these groups each day and
sometimes it is necessary to post a short reply, rather than a lengthy one such
as this, to aid those in need of my assistance. At least I took the time to
think of an alternative for you rather than just saying "Sorry, no way!" and for
that I think you should be grateful.
